Since first opening its doors in 1885, Doyles on the Beach has become a landmark of Sydney’s Watsons Bay - a name synonymous with freshly caught seafood and authentic seaside dining.

The challenge was to refresh this iconic brand while honouring its deep-rooted legacy and coastal charm.

The updated identity draws from Doyles’ rich history, blending traditional maritime aesthetics with a refined contemporary touch. Vintage graphic elements, a warm nautical palette, and classic type treatments were used to create a visual language feeling both nostalgic and enduring. The result is a brand that respects its past while confidently stepping forward.

A full suite of collateral was developed for use both in-store and online, including redesigned packaging, signage, a poster series, and menus styled in the format of vintage newspapers. These printed pieces aim to capture the rhythm and romance of a slower era, while remaining functional and clear.

The website was reimagined to be more interactive and user-friendly, allowing visitors to easily explore menus, book tables, and engage with the restaurant’s history. Photography played a central role in the refresh, placing focus on the food itself and the breathtaking setting of Watsons Bay - cementing the experience of dining at Doyles as one deeply tied to place.

This refresh preserves the essence of Doyles while presenting it with clarity, warmth, and a renewed sense of identity anchored in heritage, ready for future generations.
